1700's Original Prints (Marie Antoinette)

  1. So I have an opertinity to get these two prints. Currently I only have these pictures of the piece.

This is the caption on the bottom.
The back of the Prints have a magazine clipping with page number 122 I believe from a French Magazine. Zoomed version
I will get more pics when I see the piece tonight or tomorrow morning. Does anyone have any idea what I should look for verification or a Ball Park price?

This site is so helpful I figured I would start here.

I'd say they are cut from a French Fashion Magazine. Someone liked them enough to cut them out and have them framed. There appears to be quite a bit of 'foxing' on them as well, although that may just be the images I'm looking at. Below is an eBay link that you can browse. I don't read French even if the print were large enough, but others may be able to on that one image......unless you can get some better ones up tomorrow!!! Good luck if you decide to go forward with the purchase or auction!!

  8. Thank you for the links. I took a 100 flyer on the pair, they appear to be very very old (200 years old I hope). The guy looked like he needed the money more than me anyway. Going to have some fun on the research. Any and all help appreciated!!!!

  9. You are correct after googling all night and using your source I was able to identify that these are from Galerie des Modes. Now I don’t think I am lucky enough to have the extremely rare originals from 1779 edition but more likely the 1910 replica version. The 1910 is apparently pretty rare as well. Pretty cool find, maybe I will get lucky and one of them will be from the original print. I am sure I will never be able to tell though. Art is beyond me.
