chinesecopper (1).jpg chinesecopper (2).jpg chinesecopper (3).jpg chinesecopper (4).jpg chinesecopper (5).jpg Not sure what this is but looks like an antique copper relief planter except the bottom is actually open. Dimensions are 13" in wide 9"in high 8"in diameter on top and 7"in diameter on bottom opening. Has animals reliefs foo dog, dragon, phoenix, turtles etc. Plus there is a plaque in CHINESE so if anyone reads Chinese that would be great. I need to know what it says

These are usually Japanese and like a lot of pieces constructed this way the bottom has fallen out due to water corroding the solder joint.

I guess I must have mistakenly assumed because of a foo dog that this was Chinese. Still learning

Might have been part of a Japanese Koro or censer. Definitely looks Japanese.

Japanese and Chinese characters were the same at this time because the Japanese people adopted Chinese written script as their own.
The characters are pronounced quite differently though, so it is technically possible that a book could be read by both and understood by the readers ....but if read aloud, neither one would have a clue what the other was saying. :muted::nailbiting:
