Egyptian or Chancay??

    These dolls were labelled "Early Egyptian Dolls" but I'm leaning toward Peruvian Chancay grave goods dolls. Some info here

    This is unusual in that there are three together in what looks like a boat with a handle on the end. They say the ancient originals had faces from specially woven cloth while modern versions have the facial features stitched on plain cloth so these are likely modernish.

    Indigenous Peruvian artisans recreate these dolls in a traditional style, incorporating remnants of ancient textile fragments recovered from pre-Colombian burial sites.

    Some of the cloth used does look like it could have been sourced from old graves.

    Thoughts????

    You're right, it has nothing at all to do with Egypt. It is a replica of a Chancay original, a souvenir from Peru.
