I think it's a sterling mark as well. Like I said, I've seen it, but can't place it. I, too, thought it was upside down. Thank you!

Glad to "see" you Sue! I agree with Persian because of the following query on 925-1000. Like Evelyn said, the mark is upside-down. If the mark us rotated the last part of it with the 3 dots is identical to the mark in the following query.

The actual mark is the last link on the original query.

One of the replies said Persian and that the 1st mark was 84 = 875/1000 silver and the 2nd mark was the maker's mark. I think he meant the 2nd mark, the maker's mark, is the one like on the horn serving set? Anyways have include a pic of the horn serving set mark rotated and the mark from that query for comparison. I had trouble accessing the query mark link on my iPad. Strange pages came up.

Boy, I messed up on the above reply. Let see if I can get those pics right. Gee, looking at these marks again they aren't the same when the horn silver pic is rotated. When the 3 dots are at the bottom, what is above it is wrong side up. When the dots are up, what is above it is identical to the 925-1000 marks. Oh, well.

Good to see you, too, Susan! And, thank you. This has been bugging me all day, and while I was out, I starting thinking that it may be a maker mark? Does it look familiar to you? Like we might have seen it on the old AB or something?

In the post above this, the top mark is the purity mark, which is absent on the pieces I'm curious about. And the script for the maybe maker mark looks different?

And, the motif on the silver? Doesn't look traditional Persian or Iranian to me?

    Main article: Malay alphabet
The Malaysian language is normally written using a Latin alphabet called Rumi, though an Arabic alphabet called Jawi also exists. Rumi is official while efforts are currently being undertaken to preserve Jawi script and to revive its use in Malaysia. The Latin alphabet, however, is still the most commonly used script in Malaysia, both for official and informal purposes.

the script translates to the word is Kelantan, a state in northern Malaysia which has a tradition of silverwork.

Komo... nailed it! Sue, your gut feeling was correct. The mark is Arabic Jawi script for Kelantin, Malaysia. Look at this query on the 925-1000 forum, the 4th posting by dognose. It has a pics of the mark along with numbers that ID the maker. As the horn serving set doesn't have the numbers, I doubt by the same maker.

That is awesome! Thank you all for helping me to satisfy my curiosity. I knew I had seen the mark before and the motif just didn't look Middle East to me.

    Very Cool!!!
