rocking horse 2.png rocking horse1.jpg side view Rocking horse.jpg Bottom of rocking horse.jpg I have a rocking horse that was donated to our museum. I am trying to find an approximate time period of the horse to see if it is from the Federal Period.
The Rocking horse originally had a wrought iron stand and later converted into a rocking horse we are use to.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Note: Picture attached would be the pre-modified for reference only, image of modified horse is the one I have.

I agree. I have sold a through via the auction house. The wood splits because it isn't cured long enough. They also try to intentionally age pieces.

    Welcome to the boards, Darlene!

I agree with the other posters that this is a fairly recent copy. Looks like it's always been a rocking horse and hasn't been modified. I'm sorry it's not better news.

I was thinking recently made in India. Anyway, it looks recent Asian.
Sorry @Darlene Szudera , it looks like someone wanted to get rid of it, either because they were disappointed by their purchase, or maybe for the tax write off komo mentioned.:sorry:

If it has to be Federal Period to interest the museum, the answer is it isn't!

Thanks. Right now we just use it during Christmas as a prop under the 1885 Christmas tree during the holidays.
