So I caught the flu and this is the first time since I posted that I am feeling well enough to check back but I did figure out a couple of things, but only because of your suggestions. So yes, older celluloid does smell like vinegar when it degrades so I braved it and took a big whiff and alas it does not smell like vinegar but it did have a very strange smell. Luckily while I was reading about the vinegar thing I stumbled upon the fact that the very earliest celluloid made smells like camphor. Unfortunately, I did not know what camphor smelt like. So I Googled it (Thank God for Google.) and I found out camphor smells like rosemary. So I ran to my kitchen cupboard and eureka they smell the same! So I have a date for this little guy I think it was made around 1864. Unfortunately, my quest still continues on! So if anyone has any more ideas on how I can obtain any other information on this piece, please let me know. You all have been so helpful. Thank you so very much!

Yeah it’s pretty bad I’m still not feeling great but at least I don’t feel like death warmed over anymore! Anyone that hasn’t caught this flu pleas just take care of yourselves and stay healthy and stay away from us sick ones!

I'm shocked!!!!! I didn't think this site was like that:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: On a more serous note, how do you know it's a "gentlemen's" erotic pocket toy???? a bit risque to make an assumption like that these days  BTW I don't know anything about it other than these things make good money, there are lots of collectors of this sort of ware. Great post
