Wondering if anyone can tie this cap to a particular branch of service and time period? I've not been able to find another example with this particular piping.

    Thanks

In my experience, military uniforms had different labels. It should say, "Hat, Garrison..." etc. It wouldn't start with 100% Wool and then say "An "M-C" Cap". It good be a re-enactors item.

As someone pointed out already I think this isn’t a US DOD purchase. I think it was made for the veterans fraternal organizations such as VFW, American Legion, etc. Google photos of such groups marching in parades, serving in funeral firing squads, etc and I think you’ll find similar caps. The give-away is the glitter piping. All US military caps have plain piping if any.

    Hi,
Seeing all of these posts for non regular caps reminded me of my FIL who was a cook in Korea in a MASH unit. At the last VFW parade he was in he wore a "green beret" cap with his Korean uniform. I thought "what the hell is that". These old guys are a hoot. He has over 20 caps to wear in parades.

MC is likely Marine Corps. We have a modern version still Olive Drab green. We affectionately call them “piss cutters.”

    That's a polite term, actually.
