Right so this is not so much an actual sale, I couldn't find an appropriate thread to post this on My old dear has had these wooden hand crafted elefants with ivory tusks and eyes (back when the trade wasn't frown upon) she can't remember due to her memory failing on her, seems to think Nigeria although she could be wrong. They may not even be anything worth anything or of importance, they'e no signature marks on them unless I'm missing something to the way the hand crafter has hidden his mark? I can't find them anywhere online, pictures to follow (the largest one has ivory eyes, the smaller ones just ivory tusks) (I can't upload any pictures... is there a way around this?? Files too large and they were taken on a Samsung s8)
They may not be ivory, most are bone. When you've resized the photos, could you also post a closeup of the tusks, so we can see?
I'm no expert, I don't like owning ivory or real animal type things (not that I moan others do, it' just not me) but my dad has a ot of ivory and it feels like the same? I'e reduced the photo sizes so will post them up
They may be nothing but for the sake of my old desrs curiosity I did agree to try find out more about them, two more images to follow, I've only taken three pictures and they're at my mum' house so will take more if anyone requests (if they'e anything to be if interest)
Doesn't matter, things don't have to be valuable to make you want to find out more about them. Your mother's elephants are cute. They are souvenirs, probably made in Thailand, the tusks and eyes are bone. Nigerian wooden elephants are usually more stylized:
