Old jugs

Hi All, wondering if anyone has any idea about these old jugs which have been in the family for over 100 years. I have absolutely no idea about them so any information is appreciated

I have an oldie that was at least my great grandmother's that I have always assumed is English. But wait for others to comment.

 

I have a couple of pieces of copper luster and have always been under the impression England is the country of origin for all the pieces.

Interesting that the band of decoration is 3-dimensional.

1840s or there abouts Copper Lustre from England.
The pattern is probably depicting something. Looks like someone riding a lion

I did see this & at first thought they were centaurs. (My newly altered eyesight is leading to all kinds of optical illusions & misreadings of depth in photos.) Then realized it was probably someone riding. Did think it could be Cupid, just couldn't tell riding what. You're right, it's a lion. I now see Cupid, or a cupid, riding a lion with some other cupids around. I would expect the thing above his head to be a butterfly, but my eyes are refusing to see one.

Unfortunately, this ware was worth a lot more years ago. Here in France, the French call "copper lustre" or "sunderland lustre" "Jersey ware" There is a lot here. It seems that sailors brought the lustre ware back from Jersey as it was cheaper and taxes were avoided. There is a lot of it around.

Unfortunately can't hardly give away copper luster here in the US. Passed by a piece at the thrift for $3.00 the other day. Have several pieces in storage already that failed to sell. Pretty sad that 150 year old earthenware has no market

 

I was really tempted to say I have some old jugs, but.....

 

Every time I see the title I'm tempted to make sure my bra is doing its job.(LOL)
