According to the UK Pat number of 483401 they should be 1906, and they are marked as Silver, but that is the total of the information as there is no makers mark.

Very sweet. 1906 is when they were patented, so they are probably later. I would think not much later though.
    The stones are probably glass.

And just for a laugh - this is not a USA patent number!

I do wish everyone would state the country they are in on their profile.

"Machine for treating leaf tobacco" comes up with a USA patent search.

I would imaging glass yes, as the main body is Silver, not gold.. However, when this blooming virus allows, I will have them tested none the less.

    Hope everyone is keeping safe

I don't see an option for doing this.. maybe an option for the site editors to consider. Nevertheless, my second post did announce "Hello from North Wales"

There are spots for both Location and Occupation on your profile. Just saying where you are from in a post does not stick with you.

Hover your mouse over your name in the heading line. It will reveal a drop down list of options, the second of which is Personal Details. Click on that and you will have the opportunity to add your location plus other stuff if you care to.

I found them in the back of my van that has just been emptied after a house clearance from two years ago

The registration number will be for that screw fitting. I'd think nice paste, prpbably Bohemian.

Cheap diamond testers on eBay go for $10 or less if you ever want one. I might not trust them on a potentially high value item but on the small stuff it’s a good thing to have around.

Yes, I bought one, but then speedily sent it back, since it indicated that anything metal was a diamond.. likewise any hardwood surface had the same effect

I had good luck with my $10 one. What helps is if you have an actual diamond in a piece to compare the reading with. If the sensitivity is turned up too high, everything will register. (Although it sounds like GeorgeL might have had one that didn't work.)
