Featured North African Picnic Table?

This too came from the Duke d' Atri. There was a matching side board with drawers and, I seem to remember, a marble top. The story was that Napoleon sat at this table when he signed the documents acquiring Egypt for France. Mother of Pearl, ivory, silver wire.
There are bezels in the top that once held scarabs. The original upholstery under the pink fabric is a dark green floral pattern. I know it's in poor condition ut I wonder if it isn't possible to find a (Moroccan?) craftsman to restore it. I guess the missing ivory would be the hitch....I'll try to get better pictures if there is interest.

Gorgeous set, I love it.
I don't know where you are, but it shouldn't be to difficult to find someone to restore the inlay. Doesn't have to be Moroccan, a Dutch Gypsy friend of mine does it here in the Netherlands. I've seen some of his antique Syrian restoration projects, perfect.
What looks like ivory could be bone. But even antique ivory isn't too difficult to find, there are a lot of broken antique fans and piano keys, perfect for small parts.
If you post a well-lit close up photo of the ivory, we should be able to tell you if it is ivory or bone.

 

Don't know about the story or how you'd prove it but I love the table!
