A purchase just because I liked them...any clues?

    Im guessing around 1918 or so because of the poppy's,they were popular then. Got a pic of the bottom ? They look like they could be bronze,possibly art nouveau period.

    Yes, would be helpful to know what the material is, and as suggested, to have a photo of the bottom.

    Looks like painted wood. Probably a hardwood turned on a lathe. I'd be scared to turn pine that thin.

    On the bottom where no one can see make a small scratch through the paint - if shiny yellow then a brass casting painted, if neutral color, then wood painted

    If wood .... pyrography with paint. 1910 or so would be about right.
