Happy New Year All! Found this lovely decanter for gin and it has a mark on the bottom but I can’t find the make. Any help would be great! Thanks! C5A99155-B3C1-49A6-85DE-53793E54065D.jpeg

It doesn't have the same mark on the stopper does it? It kind of looks like 33 stacked.

No the stopper is not marked but looking at it it seems it’s a reflection of the mark, maybe the way they took the picture.

Maybe its the pics but it sure looks like your glass is "sick" .That white cloudiness that is impossible to get off. I dont think the stopper is correct either.

Stopper is fine, it's a mid to late 19th globe and shaft decanter. Shape is usually sherry or port, so to have that engraving is unusal. The glass sickness kills it which is such a shame.

He doesn't say what the abrasive powder is, just that it's all natural. Does anyone know what he used?

Here's his site. www.ians-polishing-kits.com It isn't up and running yet. If you look at the comments on the video, there is speculation such as
"Magic powder is more than probably Cerium Oxide Glass Polishing Powder."

Cerium oxide is the usual thing.

Thanks everyone, I Googled and can find it from a lot of sites.

I will have to think about this, it will require making something like the tool he made to hold the sponges. I have a nice piece that has silver overlay and a lot of deposits on the inside. I tried all the usual home remedies and they didn't do much. If I can pull everything together to give it a try I will start a "before and after" thread on it.
