Just catching up here on all the finds.
    Very nice everyone.
This weekend was a wash out with too much rain and no really good sales to go to here.

Your bulb vase is probably a night stand decanter, the lacking glass put upside down into the wide "mouth" after drinking, so you didn't spill drops on your table top:)

    Wow! Love the dogs cufflinks!!!
For the single, you can find another single and separate both to reunite in one pair with two different faces, or mount them into earrings:)

The Met makes things that are either reproductions of or, especially when it comes to jewellery, inspired by an art work. I don't recognize this piece, but it immediately gave me a religious feel - the reticulated design reminds me of stained glass windows - & a closer look makes me think it is a dove, not an eagle. Wrong beak, for starters. And the Holy Spirit is often symbolized by a dove, although usually with outspread wings, on many a stained glass window.

The eagle is a repro or inspired by 6th century gothic aquiliform fibula :pompous:;)

KOT, you can look on ebay and see some similar bags to get an idea of worth if you like.

The Dante company used impressions from actual engraved gems. The original of this one is explained in the Beazley Archive, which shows a glass paste one made to mimic the original amethyst gem. They added the photos of the cufflinks a couple of years ago after I brought them to the attention of the woman who manages the database. I just thought she would be amused, so surprised when photos added, maybe in part because it is easier to see the scene on the cameos than on the intaglio or the monochromatic impression of it.

My parents brought some of these stands back from the Middle East circa 1960. They were sold with round brass trays, the kind one often finds with a "Made in Persia" label. I'm not sure they are piggies; on mine they look more like bird-heads, or dogs......

I buy MMA repro/inspireds whenever they turn up cheap. I think my first piece was a charm from the original King Tut exhibit.

Thanks. I'm surprised the Met didn't have the original; their jewelry is usually a copy of a design from somewhere in their collection. They've been known to copy backs of chairs, stained glass windows, etc. Exact copies of jewelry are actually less common.

Think it is fixed now. Still have to work on the one in the cameos thread.

They do seem mainly to take their ideas from their own holdings, but sometimes they'll make something in collaboration with another museum that owns it or, as with Tut, from items that are on loan for a special exhibition. As you say, they don't make straight jewellery reproductions so much. They'll do things like model the links in a chain after an embroidered design on a dress in a painting.
