Jewelry Question..

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and new to jewelry identification. I have a set of clip on earrings. These have some weight to them, but I cannot find any markings on them. I can't tell you much more about these, but I took several pictures so hopefully these will be good enough.

Those aren't clips; I think those are technically lever-backs. They're too new for me to know a darned thing, but someone else might.

 

Yes, that is the term for them. It looks to me like someone has cobbled together bits & bobs of costume jewellery & hung it all from the little rhinestone buttons. Can't imagine a commercial or professional jeweller constructing anything this way.

 

Agree, lever-backs. The hook is just a regular earhook, slightly shorter, the levered clasp at the back makes sure it doesn't fall out. Lever-backs are used mostly in Europe and the Middle East.
Agree with Bronwen, looks like a home craftpiece. Probably 1980s, the era of bling. Maybe a present for a budding ballet dancer.

 

They look like Betsey Johnson, or Betsey Johnson inspired, earrings. Fairly recent.

 

I don't think these are home-brew. I've seen similar ones made commercially; they're just made to look like craft items.

 

I gather Betsey herself looked something like this when she would take ballet class.

 

I should have posted an example. Betsey Johnson did a line of ballerina themed pieces ... but I've heard that many pieces out there are knock-offs (I have no proof either way, whether this is true or not) For whatever it's worth ... here's a listing of a pair on eBay

I'm sorry for the picture problem. I took them on a phone and had to shrink them because the images were too large for the forum. Must have missed something in the ptocess..

I really appreciate the help everyone! I have a few more items I'm struggling to find but am hesitant to post since the images and I aren't agreeing..

Learning all this stuff about jewelry is pretty intense. There is just so much information out there. Again thank you everyone
