I posted this a number of years ago and got no info so I thought I'd give it another shot. This stands 5" tall, the base shows incised letters, possibly W over N, or Z E or N over M, all in a small rectangle. Applied twisted handles. The mottling of the glaze is really beautiful. Is that the remnants of a foil label or a chip? My knee jerk was Nelson McCoy,and they did use just "NM" for a while.I love that glaze.

Not McCoy - if that is a glaze chip then the red clay is wrong for McCoy. I was leaning more towards Germany or maybe Belgium.

I believe it's called a "kiss", where one piece touches another during firing. The N M Nelson McCoy mark had the letters overlapping one another. I can't tell if the clay is red or not, the red mark appears to be a small lump of glaze. If you look at the incised letters, you can almost see reddish clay in the grooves but then again, is it the clay or a layer of glaze under the top layer?

I agree with Germany or Belgium.

The red spot will be the underlying clay and yes, a kiln kiss. The small patches of grinding removed other stuck-on bits.

I would call the glaze flambe.
