Featured Banded agate or glass?

    These aren’t mine but an auction that’s currently at £175.
    I’m not bidding, just learning but interested to know if these are agate or actually glass?
    Being sold as Victorian Agate but I’m not so sure.

    Hm. That drawn feather work makes me think glass. The bands also look too deliberate, if that makes sense.

    That’s what I was wondering. Sold for £181 so I hope for their sake we are wrong!

    I really can't decide. Looks like genuine sardonyx to me. Would not expect to see so much individual variation in glass, but I can see what you mean about the bands being 'deliberate'. The white bands at the equator of each bead particularly bother me, they seem too opaque. If they're glass, they're very sophisticated glass & I think they would be worth the price even so.
