Just curious Book why you think the clothes are original?

You might be right, and me very wrong.

What makes me think they are not original is the uneven zigzag stitch on his jacket. Done by a commercial machine.........? Or Mom's home sewer?

Also, the rolled up pants with the wrong side seam showing. Not home made maybe, but doubtful original to him.

There are many other Bartenders to be viewed on Google if anyone cares to do the searching.

I think if Capt. Kangaroo, he would be dressed in his famous navy blue suit. But just my opinion only................

He was quite popular among the antique stores about 20 years ago or so. We had many of them and they were good sellers at the time. Battery operated animation.

    Judy -
I've seen a lot of cheap little plastic dolls, I guess. Many of them have that weird zig zag sewing of the seams - you don't have to be as careful because it covers more territory width wise. Also, that extremely thin velcro sewn on with the same seam is common. His pants are probably rolled because they are not hemmed.
I don't think he is supposed to represent Captain Kangaroo, I just thought he resembled him. I guess I should have been more clear.

He sure does look like Captain Kangaroo, and I also see Professor Marvel/Wizard of Oz in him too. There must be markings somewhere?

You could be correct on the clothing, but to me it is below standard even for Japanese made.

The doll isn't important enough to fuss over, but I would be curious if any marks could be found where I suggested.....neck, back, feet.

    Just curious at this point.

My thought was Santa. It sorta looks like a "Florida" shirt...

  12. I stripped him down naked eeek lol and not a single mark of any kind to help identify him. I don't think I will ever know for sure who he is supposed to be but thank you everyone for all the great feedback and suggestions of who he might be.
