This is my first time posting in this section. We have inherited my grandparents collection and are looking to archive any and all information we can for future use.

Not sure if this is the proper section for this so please let me know if anything would be better somewhere else.

Most of the time I have more pictures or can easily get more pictures.

    Thank you for your time.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi....it looks to me like someone took the time and made a nice homemade lantern that they could carry and not have it blown out while they walk.....but is it fairly air tight???? That would suffocate the flame then? Am assuming glass panes? Looks kind of like mortise and tenon joints. Could you give dimensions please??

The top 'strap' may have been for mounting conduit, pipe or even round tube fencing and such and had one end cut off for some reason. The rounded end makes me think it wasn't handmade but 'off the shelf'.
In any case it may not have been original.

Are you talking about the sheet metal heat shield?

Yes...if that is what it's meant to be. :)
I can see that being semi effective if carrying this by the bail.
