Featured Is this a mark or just a couple of dents on this possibly NA bracelet?

Recent thrift store find, wearable and @$18, I wouldn't mind if it's not NA ... I'm now hesitant to call anything NA without evidence to back up that attribution ... but this certainly looks like it could be ....

Any guesses to origin? (if NA, I would say Navajo)
    Guesses to age?
    Guesses to type of turquoise?

Almost 56 grams and just over 1¾" (3.2cm) wide.

Only 'marks' on back are two (or three) parallel lines and maybe another faint line perpendicular to these.

The black matrix looks like it has been darkened, which I've heard was a 'thing' sometimes done ... except for a few spots that look like quartz?

The piece of silver on which the leaves, flowers, etc... have been placed has what I would call a stippled finish (but there may be a more correct term for this texture) I've never noticed on other Navajo pieces. But, frankly, I don't usually like the leafy/flowery/nugget-y Navajo work ... so I never inspect them too closely.

    Thanks for looking :)

    Nice photos
    Sorry can't help.
They have been making things in Mexico that look like Native American. Usually not marked.

I'd polish it and wear it. Good looking bracelet.

Great find! Looks Navajo to me too. Can't find the mark, sorry.
For a moment I thought you meant the tiny thing that looks like a bird.

Thanks anyway, CC! I do plan on wearing it ... just has to be somewhere where I'm not likely to whack those big nuggets into anything - I'm pretty tough on jewelry because I forget I'm wearing any ... plus, being half Italian, even a good conversation could be dangerous to this bracelet! ;)

    Hi,
Are you sure those three marks are not marks from someone testing the metal for silver?

Oh yeah ... looks like a little bird wearing a flat hat :). It's just where the two ends of the bezel around a stone meet.

You're right. That's the kind of thing Egyptian silversmiths do, and this is not Egyptian. It is probably just a random indentation
It looks like a little bird without a hat and that small raised line is an eye.:)

I think stamping (or dent) too. I've tried to take a better pic. showing how the metal is pushed out on the square bar (from the force) next to/above each mark. Easier to feel than to see clearly.

Now I see it :) Your bird (head) is facing to the left ... mine was walking to the right and has a long upraised tail like a wren (and a hat).

In the photos the stones look like they are resin stabilized ,it was probably made after the late 70's.

    Very nice quirkygirl.
BTW- can't wait for The Walking Dead to start again to see what happens to Carl.
Looks like he is a goner.
:( You probably feel the same since you are fan of the show too.
