None here, either... In fact, not long ago, I had a workman in the house, checking out the dishwasher, and he asked me for a paper plate to hold the screws & things while he worked. He was incredulous when I told him I didn't have any and offered him a china plate instead.

My sister, on the other hand, is a huge fan of those disposable red plastic plates & bowls - they're probably Solo brand, since they "match" the Solo cups of beer-drinking fame...

Every December, she takes the time to remove everything else in her china cabinet and display all of her Lenox holiday china. Even so, at her annual family holiday dinner, we sit at her dining room table, eating from Solo plastic, looking at the pretty china on display across the room.

I still chuckle to myself when I remember a guy at the auction coming up to me afterwards while I was packing up all my goodies & pointed to a set of canisters while saying that they were the buy of the night. I just smiled & told him that the little stack of plates would be the winner in that contest. :D:D

I buy the cheap thin paper plates and use them as separators for stacking good china. The only time I've ever used paper plates for eating was for children's birthday parties.

OK, I confess, I do have some of the cheapo white ones, I also use them to separate china or glass I take to shows, they never see food!

    Hi Ruth,
Sorry it was silk. This was back in the 70s.
