Featured Silver bracelet; what are these stones?

This was another bracelet I bought from a costume pile because I was sure it was silver, though I couldn't find a mark of any kind. Not until I was taking pictures to post here did I finally find the mark - the simple 925 shown in the last pic.

So I'm curious about all the normal things for this bracelet - where, when, who made it? Plus I have no idea what the stones are. Is this turquoise in a rock matrix? Or something else? I'm pretty sure these are natural stones and not epoxy created monsters.

    Yes, turquoise matrix. Nice bracelet.

Glad you two had a look & left comments. I thought it was genuine turquoise matrix, but never feel confident about my judgments when it comes to turquoise.

I so much prefer 'eccentric' turquoise to evenly colored stuff.

BTW, Jeff, love that you changed your avatar to your cameo.

Thanks! Maybe not *quite* as well sculpted as your cameo ;), but when I made his picture into a square to fit the avatar template, I made sure to include his tiny feet, because that is my favorite part!

It still has character & spoke to you. I have probably more than my share of such things. I just show off the really good stuff here to expand awareness of what cameos can be beyond what most people think of when they hear 'cameo.'

I like all turquoise, as long as it has its natural colour. One of my favourite stones. They used to call me 'the turquoise queen', because I wore turquoise the SW way, the more the merrier.

    I'm a sucker for tourmalines.

Love tourmalines as well. But my top three are emeralds, jade and turquoise. Not necessarily in that order, that varies from day to day.:)

Does anyone have any helpful hints to when 925 became a typical marking on sterling jewelry? I know it seems to be common these days, but when did that start?

It was already done in the late 19th century, so not anything to go by when dating an item.
I think your bracelet is 1980s, that is when that toggle clasp was popular.

Stumbled into this while chasing around in connection with another thread. Reminds me of your guy:

The toggles really became popular in the 1990s rather than the 80s, at least here. Using them on craft jewelry came a bit later, around 2000.

Part of the question is when did different countries adopt a standard for marking fineness of precious metals. Some had this much earlier than others; some still do not have any requirements. Doesn't mean nothing got marked prior to that, just could be hit & miss. AJ is right that denoting fineness numerically has been done for a long time now.
