My home looks a bit like an antique store, though hopefully a little more decorated and a little less cluttered.

To that point, after collecting for over half a century I ran out of room! I enjoyed collecting so much for so long that when I stopped for 10 years I couldn't even go near an antique store. Too depressing!

I'd always loved colored glass, and when I saw a pretty green glass flower frog on-line that gave me the idea to start collecting them. They are small!

On my third trip out I came across a ceramic one, and now I love them even more. A collection looks like an artist's palette!

I collect blocks, a term for non-figural flower frogs. They came in two forms:

    • Inserts were often sold with a matching bowl, and the flower stems were placed in the holes of the "frog" as it set in water in a bowl.

    • Lids were sold with a vase, and the flower stems were placed through the holes and down into the water.
    I love sharing in forums!

I love them! And they don't take up too much room. Thanks for sharing.

Isn't it interesting how even "humble" items are beautiful when massed?

Welcome to the forums! I think I have a few Rookwood flower frogs and a Weller one as well but am in awe of your assortment shown above.

Edit: I'd highly recommend that everyone who hasn't done so yet check out Peter's website. It is fantastic.

@Joe2007 I'd love to see yours! I have hardly seen any Rookwood flower frogs other than the ones I own.

    Thanks so much, @Lucille.b.

@KSW, yes! UV light does that.

Hi Peter and welcome! At first I got a little giggle when you described how you came to start this collection. It sounds so familiar and a disease uh passion that seems to strike so many of us.....that collecting thing:).

Then I checked your website and I say hats off to you for not only excelling at documenting what you have but also for sharing it with others! Bravo!

@say_it_slowly thank you for the kind words. Building websites has also been a hobby of mine, so I have fun sharing my collection with others that way. And helping to educate them with at least what I have learned.
