Thanks Cheryl, great help. That certainly is food for thought.
The type of barrel clasp and the squiggly lines on the links make me think Art Deco period too.
The squiggles are stamped on the links, two sets on each side, and the hooks of the clasp are decorated as well:

The necklace after a bath and some alcohol to get rid of the build up of grease in some parts. Nothing invasive, but clean. Beads are a bit more shiny too:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I recently bought and read that book. It is fascinating, and so detailed!

When I saw the photos, "Czech, 20's-30's" popped into my head.

Can't comment on whether the design has been altered in any way. The way the links are stretched out in a few spots is a bit odd. Would take a fair amount of pressure to get them to do that (you'd think another part of the necklace would have broken apart first). Maybe a less than perfect repair?

Very pretty piece. Love older necklaces with interesting glass. :)

Thank you Lucille, with all the information, and the cleaned links, I am convinced this is a true Art Deco necklace as well. Amazing, I got an interesting lot of ethnic jewellery and an Art Deco necklace for a silly price. The seller never sells jewellery, so had no idea. That's the way I like my sellers.;)
I will fix the 'repairs' and post a new photo.

One of the "Ruth Rules" is: buy jewelry from the toy dealers and toys from the jewelry dealers. The seller is reputable, and will often unload the item for a giveaway price without any idea what he/she really has.

    Hi Ruth,
My biggest rule in dealing with the lighting district in Manhattan was if you want crystal go to the brass store, if you want brass go to the crystal store. Besure to be the first one in the store. The old cliche was if the first customer walks away you will have a miserable day. I have gotten so many good buys that way.

Glad to know I was just reinventing a wheel.:) You can sometimes catch sleepers even in their proper places, but it's easier if you hit the guy who has something he's not sure of and wants to get rid of it ASAP.

I agree. This look like to me like a mixed craft piece. The materials don't seem to match the same period. As far as what is worth you, you will find out once you price it at what you think it's worth and someone loves it and buy it from you. I would go 3 times your cost at least. I have found crazy looking jewelery put a crazy price on it for kicks and some crazy bought it. You will never know.

    Repair job finished:

I always keep bits and pieces of old jewellery, so I had everything I needed.
I reshaped some of the bead wires, replaced the crumpled silver tone wire and the head pin on the right with a proper brass wire, and replaced the silver tone links between the crescent shape and the rectangle with brass links.
    One happy necklace.:)

Some info on the beads, the repair job gave me a chance to look inside the beadholes, they are opaque white glass on the inside, the outer layer is is transparent with purple-lilac swirls.
