    Hi looking for some information on this lovely chair , the seat as a in print of 2 Greek style ladies and a emblem cheers Neil image.jpg

    hello cassy/ neil....nice chair.....believe it or not it was a precursor to IKEA flat pack assemble it yourself...thankfully this one didn't require an allen key.
    made in Austria, timber was beech and usually painted in black japan finish, seat sometimes cane, or pressed plywood as yours appears to be. Of several makers, i can only remember2.... Thonet and the other was Kohn, Thonet was the most prolific maker ..they are generally referred to as bentwood chairs and date from around 1880 , tables and hall stands were also made...regards....pewter2
