Can anyone help me to describe the style of this cabinet? Does anyone know what kind of wood it might be made of, or it's likely age? It is in two pieces, and that piece of trim at the top is loose

    Thanks a ton!

Al, is this a family piece or a new (to you) piece? I ask because the top and bottom elements don't look like they started out life together.

Looks like oak ca. 1900, late Eastlake style. Is the top piece upside-down?

Wondered about that too. But then the door would open left to right.

Did someone shorten the legs? The way it is so close to the ground looks odd.

I agree with Debora - these 2 pieces don't belong together.

And I agree with Marie. Those legs do appear to have been shortened.

Yes agrees, assembled from 2 different pieces and not in a pleasing or attractive way, the proportions are all wrong.

Hi everyone, thanks for your input! I was also wondering about whether the pieces go together. I don't know anything about the history of the cabinet, it was in a house I inherited. I noticed that the key holes on the bottom piece do match the one on the door on the top piece, and that key hole is facing the same direction as the ones on the bottom piece, so the top piece can't be upside down? It really is an odd item. Or couple of items!
