721D3E5D-9CD8-4FE2-AD5E-B34AA664D138.jpeg Hi. I’ve searched many hours online trying to find info on my antique doll. I only know she was given to my Great Grandmother in 1905. I think she’s German. The only backstamp says 18(?)-10. That 3rd # is an 8,9 or 3. She has leather hands and feet.

I did not search all through this, but see a couple right off that resemble yours. Sellers not necessarily any more knowledgeable than you are.

We have just a few members who seem to know dolls, hopefully they will chime in.

I'm thinking they might want to see a close up picture of the back of the doll, where the numbers are.

I hate that there are no other markings than just these numbers

Well I'm pretty sure those are not German number ones.

Hi Thumpersmom and Welcome !! .. I agree with Judy on This one, the doll appears to be a put-together and that head, although very pretty does not belong to that body, even the way it is attached to the body is all wrong. Actually the lower legs also appear to be not right for that lovely old body. Old dolls were often repaired like this and although she does appear to be a put-together she is a very pretty girl, .. Joy.

@Christmasjoy and @judy, I’m pretty sure the head is what I’ve read about as “bisque with sculpted hair”. But about the age of the head, I’m not sure, but I know it’s at least 50 years old. It had been put away for MANY years until my grandmother went through her things after she passed away in 1967. I assumed German since her husband (my great grandfather) was born & raised in Germany. Moved to US in his 20’s

Yes, it is a bisque head with sculpted hair, and is very well painted, especially the eyebrows which is a spot to be considered when determining age and authenticity. The head may very well be older but it doesn't belong to that body. All in all she is still lovely and I suggest that you take her to an antique doll shop to be inspected .. one really needs a hands on and visual of the doll in question ... Joy.

    Hi Thumpersmom. :cat:

It's very disappointing to hear differently from what one believes to be true.

As Christmas Joy stated, the doll head could be older but doubtful.

In any case, it does not belong to that body. It belonged to a much earlier doll.

She is a pretty doll, and I agree with ChristmasJoy that she is nicely painted.
