Hi, I'm looking for any information on this pendant. 14

Not tourmaline, it is cloudy... Chrysoprase/green agate:)

Yes I thought that at the beginning but I have also heard that tourmaline can turn cloudy over time or in certain light conditions. But you're right it does look like green agate.

Looks like there is mark visible in the photo taken from the side, right in front of the ring for the bail? Agree with kyratango that it does not look like tourmaline, although for me it is the color that is off somehow. In different lighting I might have a different impression. What is it you're hoping someone will recognize?

I was hoping if someone could give me a period? I don't have the piece in my hand. I'm just going on somebody else's advice... who is adamant that this is tourmaline:) I think it might be marked for 585 but no makers.

Going by pieces I've seen with similar construction & for which I have some idea of age, I would say 1945 - 1969, mid-twentieth century.

That's great. Thanks for your help. Now I just need to figure out is the stone. It looks very luminous.

    This is a chrysoprase cabochon.

Like tourmalines, the exact shade of green varies, some more blue than others.

This sounds more like chalcedony (chrysoprase is green chalcedony) than like tourmaline. One glows, the other glitters.

    Agree with kyra and Bronwen.
The stone looks like green chrysoprase (there is also yellow chrysoprase) to me, and 60s for the style.

So is it possible that the pendant is tourmaline? The person who I am speaking to assures me that it has been tested by Jeweler. But those are only words. I think I have seen cloudy tourmaline in the past but this sure does look like a green agate. Thank you for the pictures. Great help.

This is green tourmaline when it is cloudy, cloudy tourmaline has irregularities in the shading:

Your friend's stone is green chrysoprase imo.

Tourmaline & chrysoprase are very close in hardness & both have a hexagonal crystal system. Not sure anything the average jeweller could do as a test would be able to distinguish one from another.
