Well my first thoughts as I was looking was California pottery. But the mark isn't Haldeman or Batchelder, who both made this turned lip shape. But not in a 3 point, theirs are 4.

    I don't see Japanese characters.
Can you rub a little corn starch into the mark to see if any letters stand out?

Whoever told you Japanese, may be right, I don't know.

I'd say 1940s based on the California ones.

Could be Korean. That more rounded script looks Korean, and Koreans love celadon glazes.

While trying to look it up, I saw that Korea could be another possibility for it too. The owner was Japanese and had a lot of Japanese items but that’s not to say it couldn’t be Korean.

Does anyone think it’s a quality piece? I am clueless when it comes to this stuff!!
