    Never was a fan of diamonds, ...they ares just stones...coming out of the ground...
    Recently discovered that the slogan "diamonds are forever " is a big lie too.
    I collect militaria in general and lay hand on a medal worked out as a jewel with diamonds. But like I said I don't recognize glass from diamonds and asked my wife to take the medal to a jewel shop, and the answer was "yes " the stones are diamonds, but the value was zero, because they were cut in a "old fashion" way ....:wacky:
    It is the small medal right.

    I love old cut diamonds, many collectors of antique jewellery do. Rose cuts too.
    By the way, Kristiaan, one type of rose cut is named after your home town, the Antwerp Rose.
    This article calls old mine cut diamonds 'a timeless romance', so your diamonds (old mine cut? Old European cut?) deserve some appreciation:

    Yes, apparently that it is what's in my medal, all rose cut!
    But no worries I still like and appreciate my medal.
    Like most men;

    Mohammad, I hope you don't mind my asking for translation help, I would be very grateful. It is about the text in the cartouches of my little Damascus ware bowl:

    Part of the silver is gone on this one, but you can still see the marking where it once was.

    This is the bowl:

I can read (السلام peace) and (ألباني builder ) also (حنان the merciful ).. so some of them are from the 99 names of Allah (God) in Islam.. but please see other opinion as some time these antiques has beauty Arabic letters but not a real words

    That's a great help, thank you very much. I realize old calligraphy can be tricky to read, but I am happy with what you found. And very old unique Arabic script, very nice.
    Yes it is an antique, though I don't know how old exactly. Do you have any idea?
    I have it on top of a display cabinet so I can see the calligraphy. The 'peace' part is always facing front, nice idea now that I know.
