  1. I stand corrected! It is the prince of wales not the fleur di lis. And you have it displayed very nicely above the picture.

    Also, thanks for the translation!

    So the main part in the big writing means "is this beautiful?"

    So the smaller writing on top is 29 first 30? The part I circled?

    Will .. mansaf is very very delicious and generous meal .. every one tried it .. just loved it.. it's a rice .. lamps meat .. with salty cooked yoghurt.. very very very incredible meal .. it's the main traditional meal here and Jordan will known by mansaf.. you can say it's our antique :)
    of course this meal has many many rules.. how to serve.. how to eat .. and what to say to the hoster.. because mansaf resembles your generousty.. kindness and honour.. it's series matter that you serve the guests good big loaded mansaf.. it's heavy meal .. make you dizzy and want to sleep .. very recommended guys..

    Same with the Netherlands.
    I am actually a very very very distant relative of the Jordanian royal family. Through a Hashemite ancestor whose family line fled to Yemen and went on to Samarkand by way of Persia. He himself traveled further east, married a princess of Champa (now part of Vietnam) and finally ended up in Indonesia. His granddaughter married the king of Madura, Indonesia. I am a descendant of that couple, two amazing people.

    Thank you Mohammad, but too much honour.
    I like your royal family, not just because they are very very very distant relatives, but they have always done much for refugees and poor people. All royalty should, really, but not all do.

    Yes you are right .. do you know that 20% of the population of jordan are Syrian refugees (1.4) million.. and another 15% Iraqis ..Yemenis and Libyan (1m) and also 900k Egyptian.. in my country there is 11.5 millions people.. the jordanian are only 6.5m

    Yes, it is amazing. Jordan also took in many Palestinians in the past. Even one of your queens, Alia, was Palestinian, if I remember correctly.

    Evil. Now I have to go find recipes for all of those and see what's in them. The Taaitaaipop looks like a gussied-up gingerbread man but apparently is made with rye flour. The Dutch baking sugars are hard to find here, but may not be impossible. (and I don't know about you, but I want to try mansaf. Lamb and yogurt are usually very happy together. )

    I may have been responsible for the export of the Snickerdoodle to Europe. Apparently they're an American cookie. The recipe I grew up with used hydrogenated oils because it was probably published during WWII and butter wasn't available. More modern ones use a mix of fats. They're pretty simple to make and go nicely with a cuppa or coffee.

    I'd love to, I love Middle Eastern food, but I'm afraid it is a no no for me. I used to love lamb, but can't digest meat anymore. It stays in my digestive tract and turns toxic. Same with poultry. And I am lactose intolerant, part of my East Asian legacy.
    I know yoghurt is great for softening any kind of meat, with rice and herbs it must be a real delicacy.

    Coming back to the royal chapter of this thread;
    years ago I used to deal a lot with Belgian nobility, and got into castles no other "humble civilian" would ever come. I also didn't manage to come in, in other I would have liked to see.....
    It was a quiet fascinating period. Could write a book about it.

    Wow .. you are lucky .. once I got in the king of Spain castle in Madrid.. it's open to public but also they allowed us as a jordanian delegation to enter some rooms that is not public.. also once I visited the national museum of Russia right under the cremlin.. I have this bad habit of touching things .. I touched one of Catherine wagen.. alarm started and I was very afraid.. I jumped between people.. I was lucky because also I was within jordanian official delegations.. as I was lucky when I tried to set on King khwan Carlos chair in Madrid palace.. I was really amazed by the Russian multiple antiques under the cremlin.. furniture.. wagens.. clothes .. jewels.. you should see what they got there .. real treasures.. I swear I saw Dimonds size of my hand .. I saw lot of small Dimonds gathered in corners like Sand.. I swear
