Well two sources - a jewelry reseller, who makes a living selling only to stores and auctions and @evelyb30 who suggested that the marker on the reserve side was characteristic of Native American pieces see her post above. I try to provide as accurate information as I can when I post so someone doesn’t have to sift through subsequent comments to get better information. I see you disagree with their assessment. Actually, a third person thought the same thing. She used to work in a restaurant in Arizona across the street from where a Native American cranked these things out for the tourist trade. She told us this story when we were looking at them. She said she had a bag of pieces that he gave her as thank yous that were simple and quickly made like these.

 

The comments reminded me about a discussion on another forum a few nights ago about marking jewelry with metal content marked.There were a lot of comments saying people could mark them without a registered trademark. But marking jewelry with14K etc. without a registered trademark in the U.S. is illegal. Without proof a piece was made by a NA smith it cannot be called NA .It's been the law since 1990.. https://www.doi.gov/iacb/act

Gloves are a must. Hope you scored! Hoarder houses can be a treasure trove, especially if no one went through everything first. I've been watching a guy on Youtube cleaning out a house and he just found a 100-ounce silver bar stashed between two dirty mattresses. Silver coins have been cached all over. I'd check the curtain hems too.

 

Weather wasn't the best today with the ground really muddy from recent precipitation but also cold and windy enough to make it not that enjoyable to stand outside for long periods of time like you have to for estate auctions. Auctioneer had some trash barrels going which I though wasn't a great idea since I came home smelling like an ashtray.

I got a few things but my parents were getting cold so we left after about 1-1/2 hours. Got a great deal on some sterling and a few other items so it wasn't a wasted trip. Apparently the auctioneer is going to have five additional sales on the property in the near future. House didn't look big enough for that type of hoard so we will see what the future brings.

I've got a couple of Jablonski weights, he does nice stuff.

I don't think the pelican was made on Murano, the other looks promising.

 

I was most fascinated by Jablonski's story, and was happy to get a piece of his work. The idea that he doesn't just pursue different artistic styles, but also he develops new ways of making glass.
I was thinking the same thing about the seal, since the mottling was very nice and there were the added gold, which I see in a lot of Murano pieces.

 

I have a tiny Robert Held vase here. Nice stuff.

 

It was very high priced so I ignored it for days until the 25% off sale. I agree though it’s very interesting and well done

 

I think I spent about $3 on the vase. (LOL)

 

Quit showing off. I paid more than 10 times that amount

 

People around here don't always know glass. Then again neither do I; I bought it hoping it was worth more than the three bucks!

 

Sometimes I think I am the last person left who can't resist more art pottery.
