    When reading this, couldn't quite picture what she was describing as a fur clip mechanism. You know how it is, next thing you know, without even looking for it:

    I think it would take something like this to secure even a small fur. On the other hand, dress clips could be used to ruche up a neckline a little, requiring the little teeth. All shoe clips I have seen also have them. A toothless clip would not let you alter the shape of a neckline nor reliably stay in place if positioned to one side. I do not think they would be adequate to hold a fur. You'd need one of those where the fox holds on to its own tail with its mouth.

    I think they were just decoration; they were meant to stick into the pelt and look cute.
