Featured Hand woven wool handbag with beads

At first I though it was a rug sticking out of the clothing pile at thrift store, but it feels like rug material. Was wondering if it once was a rug and someone made a handbag out of it or was it originally made like this and where, who, what when ?

Takes me back to the 60s, that, atlthough I think it's more recent and probably Mexican.

 

I think a recent Indian pastiche, made from an old kilim. Thrown together quickly as evidenced by blanket stitch.

As my son-in-law would say, "dots, not feathers" Indians. Although I disagree. I don't think it's Indian. The pattern is more Moroccan.
