I had to boil a clogged old oil / kerosene lamp burner to loosen up the dried gunk. Is it safe to use the same pot for food preparation, if it's cleaned well?

It just dawned on me what you were asking.

You put the kerosene lamp burner in one of your cooking pots and boiled it? Correct?

I would scour the inside of the pot with Bar Keepers Friend, Bon Ami, or something similar. Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Then run it through the dishwasher.

After all that there shouldn't be any residue left to hurt you.

Correct. I just wasn't sure if there's chance that there could be residue left in the possible pours of the metal.

It's not something I would worry about.

A good vinegar soaking would soak anything out of the fine holes. Vinegar is powerful.

I don't think metal has pores. It's a slick surface. If the metal is scratched, maybe something would stick.
If you clean it well, there shouldn't be anything left. And if there were, it wouldn't be enough there to harm you.

Kerosene / lamp oil was taken as medicine for many years by many people with no deleterious effects.

The tin leached from the brass might give you tinnitus

In my opinion, not as harmful as to fill your tank with gasoline without wearing gloves:nailbiting::joyful:
