Glass object

    Any ideas as to what this is or used for please? Charity shop buy. It’s 4ins high and 3ins wide. It’s hand blown, has some wear at the base, I initially thought paperweight but why have the recess, seems unnecessary. If it’s a tiny vase then the water wouldn’t last long and your flower would wilt pretty quickly. It’s not any sort of magnifier either. I’ve only ever seen one other in the last few years but the person who bought it (from CS) didn’t know what it was either. Thanks. Second pic is pictured from top, third is of base.

    Well, I would never have found that, thank you Cheryl. At one time I was thinking it was for examining warp and weft threads on fabric!

    Found pyramid shaped one with similar small oil recess on Etsy. Think I’ll be lucky to find replacement bit required. It only holds 2 tablespoons of oil so not much of an electricity saver. Thanks for identifying this one, it’s been a bit of a bugbear.
