Thrift Store Find - Is This a Real Antique Bronze Mission Bell?

    I found this at a local thrift store yesterday. Looking it up I found a couple that look like it (including the weird cross thing at top) and they were 1899's cast bronze mission bells - is this one?
    And if so is it real or a souvenir bell? (even the ringer inside it looks like the 2 I saw in the real 1800's bells?!)
    Also, why is Mexico spelled Mejico? And what is the FE underneath it?
