Yeah, got walloped with snow this week. Freezing cold outside, new record lows being set. I managed to get out a bit before New Years, and I forgot some of my thrifts have amazing end-of-year clearance sales.....two have 50% off everything, and one has 75% off everything. So this was what was left....besides some newer pins I picked up for a dollah.

The necklace is 900 gilded silver, cameo, garnets. I saw one on ebay like it, asking crazy price. This was only $1.50.

The pearls, while freshwater, have a 14k clasp and have a decent luster. $2.25.

My church sale that was supposed to be yesterday was postponed until next Saturday.

I think we all have our area of expertise.....God knows what I trip over here that would make money. I tend to focus on jewelry first, then perfumes, dolls, vintage linens, and vintage clothing. Vintage clothing and just quality clothing I take to a consignment shop. For myself, I look for silk scarves and wool/angora/cashmere/alpaca etc. clothing and accessories. Found a ton of beautiful scarves this season, I just found a made in England cashmere scarf yesterday for $1.40. I will have to photograph some of the better finds for you guys. Found another old cashmere? black coat for the consignment store for $11 and a 1980s long black wool coat for my sister for $10. I don't care for the current style of quilted? down/polyester coats. I would look like the Michelin man.

I love cashmere. I've vintage stuff that will outlive me. It washes wonderfully:I'd never dry clean it, unless it was a coat or something.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

I used to design , buy & sell cashmere scarves....from Germany, Scotland, England, & Italy.
Then one day the Chinese got the idea of selling the finished product themselves...the price dropped...& the quality dropped.....& the market went to hell in a hand basket ! :(

    Hi, Komokwa,
Several of us got together to buy a special friend a custom designed cashmere bathrobe. She loved it. I would itch to death in one. This was back in the 1970s. I think it cost the five of us 200 bucks each.

Ya, some folks can't wear wool , of any critter !! :(

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

I sold double woven German Cashmere scarves....two scarves woven together for a double thickness....& at retail they were 75 to 100 bucks in the men's wear stores.....but....there was nothing warmer.....softer.....more luxurious..or classy on the market !!

    Edit...Hummm...this gives me an idea.....:angelic:
