Featured miniature silhouette / photograph paintings

    hi everyone

    i found this yesterday in a shop amongst a bunch of old postcards and photos

    they are both back to back on a single card

    i take it the silhouette is hand painted ?

    unsure what the other side is, maybe a hand tinted photograph ?

    both measure about 3.5 inches

    ive got a nice old frame that one will fit in, but which one is the more interesting(sellable)

    seems no way of getting anyone of them out without damage

    any thoughts appreciated

    Have it framed with double glass sides in a frame that can be rotated!!!! They’re BOTH NICE, Charlie!!!!!

    I take it that's it's from an old photo album, so would be nice to have them both viewable

    Excellent suggestion above. The silhouette is most interesting. Hand-retouched photograph appears to be 1860s when skirts were at their most voluminous. One would assume hand-painted silhouette the same age but... With slim-cut coat, stock and lush sideburns, I'd think 1840s. Let's see what others think.

    Yes, looks like a page from an album. The photo would be a carte de visite, most likely (given the size you mentioned).

    curiosity got the better of me, luckily the photo came out through a slot at the bottom

    doubt we'll get any info on them

    but its a big slap on the back for our daters out there:jawdrop::woot: :)

    found a couple of frames that i had lying around for them, the one for the silhouette isnt of the period but like how it looks
