Identification Needed - Bulgari???

Hi 'all I am new here.
Recently I came across this necklace and earrings. The owner of the antique shop assures me that they are unmarked Bulgari. I see one or two things don't add up for me. Firstly this piece is unsigned and as far as I know Bulgari did not begin signing their pieces until after 1920 yet the owner assures me that this is 1960s. Also it is gold-plated. Is this a copy? Or is it genuine piece of jewelry which resembles Bulgari? Or is it a genuine early Bulgari which is destined as costume jewelry? I think it is consistent with its age even earlier than the 1960s.

I'm not seeing Bulgari quality. The clips are at the earliest, 1950s but more likely 60s into 70s. So is that toggle.

From chocker length, scale and long dangle of earrings, set looks closer to 1980s to me. Unmarked... Don't think you'll ever be able to identify.

I would think 80s as well. And not Bvlgari quality. Just a pretty 80s set.

Late to the party, but my first thought was 80s costume too. It's the kind of stuff that turned up in clothing stores and in places with gift departments. No great quality but it looked good.

 

Yeah, it looks great! But I was disappointed when I saw the linkings in the earrings. Oh well...

Welcome JWD. Party is over now, but, besides agreeing with everyone else, wanted to add that the first thing I went Googling for was any indication that Bulgari ever used toggle clasps like this. Not that I could find. Most of their collar necklaces seem to close much more securely. And nothing at all comes up in a search for 'Bulgari gold plate'. If 'came across' means 'considering buying', consensus is NO!

Early Bulgari weren't signed. I didn't know the age of the piece until I saw beneath the earrings. Only saw on photos.

 

Well, now you have his word on the item.....and ours.....

Bvlgari started in the 19th century. This set is by no means 19th century.

It is for all of us, and most of us have bought things we shouldn't have. The compensation comes from all those bargains we also bought.
