Seems like a good time to review 2017 and start thinking about goals and opportunities for improvement in the new year.

    Your goals for 2018?

Personally I aspire to continue learning and becoming a better collector both in coins [my primary hobby] but also in antiques and collectables so I can spot/capitalize on deals and rare opportunities when they appear without self doubts lingering in my mind. I hope to continue to learn about and research new categories of items and how to properly value them so that when I'm at an estate auction, flea market, antique mall, or thrift store I can make wise choices, avoiding bad purchases.

I want to become a more professional collector and to learn more about the business side of collecting. In 10 to 15 years time I hope to have learned enough about sourcing and selling to be at least part-time antique dealer turning a reasonable enough profit not to be considered a hobbyist. The whole managing of an inventory, factoring in the overhead costs, the logistics of finding the right customer, and the required bookkeeping seem like daunting obstacles that will take a lot of skill and planning to overcome.

    Goal 1: Sell stuff.

Goal 2: Buy stuff with profits.

Goal 3: Sell more of that stuff.

Goal 4: Buy more stuff and perhaps a few trinkets.

    Rinse. Repeat.

Joe, you have some very admirable goals, both short & long-term. Keep up the good work!

    Shangas, you, too!

Best of luck to both of you.

These are more like New Years’ resolutions but whatever:

    -Exercise 3x a week
    -Become 10% lighter
-Sell off a few tons of merchandise we bought for resale years ago but haven’t yet marketed
-Get electricians, permits, etc. to re-activate disconnected 480 volt, 3-phase, 90 amp circuit from building’s electric room to our space.

Make progress on dwindling my hoard. Travel more and work less. Stave off collecting early retirement another year if I can.

Mine are: keep walking, etc. (the MS says it wants to interfere)

Sell stuff that doesn't need to be here.

Buy stuff for a lot less than I sell it for.

    Yes, health is everything.
I would be less likely to trip over and break a leg if I got rid of most of my Houseful of stuff so that's something I really have to address in 2018, friends and family are on my case despite me sending them pictures of all my 'treasures' that they could inherit.

Just to keep moving, as I turn 75yrs old it gets harder and harder, but .. if you don't keep moving one will surely lose that ability much sooner, use it or lose it as they say. Also, to keep busy with my interests .. keep the mind occupied and busy, help others along the way as much as I'm able .. Happy New Year All !! .. Joy.

Yup, try to get healthier while I can. First and foremost.

Keep coming here to see all the fabulous things I've never seen before!

Then, due to changes in my status, clear out and donate a lot of the things I thought I'd get around to selling but haven't and keep only the most worthwhile.

Then re-organize the things I really like and finally finish cataloging them:eek:(mmmmmm.....maybe)

I'm tired already, is 2019 here yet?

Keep learning, although I don't really know why. Because I like it, maybe?
Keep enjoying beauty, in people, ideas, nature, 'things'.
Try to stay out of a nursing home.
Try to keep DH from having to go to a nursing home.
Remember to check the funnies thread.
