Can anyone please help me identify this vase

My great grandmother owned this vase which has to date before 1940 given how she acquired it. It is very heavy and appears quite old. I am sure it must be of the Arts and Crafts period but has no obvious identifying mark. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Jim

It might be Weller Coppertone but the shape isn't in my Weller book and I don't have time at the moment to try to track it down. Maybe in a day or two if no one else finds it. Merry Christmas!

This is Peters and Reed. Believe the glaze treatment to be called Monteen.

I would never have figured this out, Brad. It's Green Variegated Montene and actually is shape #19 as it says on the bottom. The line is in a 1920 Brush-McCoy catalog. As best as I can tell, Peters & Reed had a marketing agreement with Brush McCoy when the Brush McCoy plant in Zanesville burned and they had no art pottery to sell.

Hi James, and WELCOME!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS, as well!!!! Just got that in with 3 minutes to spare!!!!:smuggrin: First, I can't help with specifics on your vase, which I think is lovely!!!!! But, my quick question is......is there something written around the side of it that is shown???? I inverted the image, and, shown below...it kind of looks like it.....but then again my eyes could be creating things too!!! Tell me if you have noticed anything or not???? I've posted your main image full size as well..........

Sorry, I thought you were still trying to ID it. The curved strokes are just characteristic of the Montene pattern. Sanford's says "brush strokes that are circular in appearance".

To say I am speechless is an understatement! I never expected such a response or even that an unmarked vase like this one could be identified with such clarity. Thank you all so much for all your input, I am very grateful! I wish I had seen these posts before Christmas it would have been a great conversation with some of my family. I have a couple calls to make now lol We have always loved it but never knew it's history. I am going to import some of this into word and print it to put inside for my kids!

Great idea. I wonder if she got it for $5. That was a lot of money back then.
