This is a huge lamp offered for sale at a local shop. When looking it over I noticed a signature. I've never seen a piece like this before. Any help with the signature or country of origin is greatly appreciated. I'm guessing 1940's - 50's based on the cord. This lamp weighs around 30 pounds. The entire bottom section is ceramic. Shade is cork. Best I can make of the signature is E. Bout Thanks, Joe

    Hi,
Try wax. Back in the 60s it was "cool" to have Spanish Decor, very rough and massive. Looks like a candlestick look with melted wax made into a lamp. I almost forgot about the decor, I usually see the mens jewelry boxes with this type of design.

I agree with Greg, 1960's, maybe even early 70's.

I've never seen another either, it is outrageous. Heavy plaster lamps from this vintage can be a hard resell, signed or not. If it was me and for resale, I would pass. Maybe others have thoughts.

One of a kind for sure, thanks for posting.

    Early 1970s
Dark wood paneling, round brass plate (with men at the table drinking beer) hanging on the wall, metal art above the fireplace, knight with lance standing at the fireplace. People would have been dressed in hiphuggers and bell bottoms, polyester shirts - - - Oh the memories are flooding back - - - Turn off the light.

    Just remember UGLY sells.

Also seen frequently in 60s "rec" (aka "wreck") or "rumpus" rooms -- now known as "family" rooms.

Alas, also seen in 12' x 70' mobile homes of that time.
    (Please don't ask. :shame:)

    Yes, it is horrid.
    $1.00 would be too much.

    Hi,
The shade would be worth more than a buck, think of all the bottoms of ceramics that cork would cover.:D

Ha ha Johnny, I was a Juaraz tourist in the early 70's and decorated my entire house in Mexican wrought iron, chain and maces on carved wood, little metal armored men, wooden Don Quixotes and velvet and feather paintings, etc. etc.;).

Don't forget the huge flamenco dancer and bullfighter dolls ! My great aunt had the red crushed velvet couch until a few years ago,and as it was covered in plastic it was pristine ! Truly ghastly !

Shiloh -- somehow I cannot reconcile crushed velvet and flamenco dancers with horses...
