Hello everyone, I stumbled across this website and can’t stop reading threads. I’ve always loved antiques and recently won a beautiful set from Berkeley and gay on an auction site. More than likely I will paint it because like everyone says brown furniture really isn’t selling. So much info here thank you! I will post some pics of what I do have. Love thrifting and finding treasures. Once again super happy to have found this site.

    HI Kimberly!

    Welcome to Antiquers..................:cat:

I don't paint anything unless it's really not worth restoring.

Others will not agree as you have already read in other threads.

    Different strokes for different folks!!

I’m having a hard time with it too! I love wood but my daughter says it looks too old. Lol and the rage is farm style!

Hi Kimberly! Welcome to the boards. The farmhouse trend is falling out of favor in our neck of the woods and brown furniture is making a comeback. Finally!!! :):singing::)

If your set is in great shape, I'd recommend keeping it brown. If it's not, slap some paint on and have some fun!

Welcome to the forums! Don't be compelled to follow any trends or groupthink in the antiques world; you need to do what brings YOU joy and unless something is incredibly rare, one less of an item in the marketplace shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. So make jewelry out of those old mercury dimes or paint that beat up old furniture after you've done your due diligence in making sure it isn't rare or special.
