Okay, I'm going through old folders on my hard drive full of pictures of stuff I've never finished researching and ID'ing. This mug is packed away somewhere, and I don't have notes with measurements and capacity, etc. in my folder with the pictures.

From memory though, it's a biggish mug, at least a 10 oz. capacity. Made of a hard stoneware type of pottery.

It's another one of those damaged things I bought to research, this time because the maker's mark is so unusual.

When I Google for Mexican pottery maker's marks of a human footprint, I get lot's of hits for a park on the New Mexico/Mexican border where there are thousands of petroglyphs. Some of them are human foot prints. So that was pretty fascinating. Footprint petroglyphs are all over the world too, I now know. Some with 6 toes!

    Mystery mark below....

@rarebirdtucson - no, I've never found any info about this mark. I'd even forgotten I had this thread posted here!
Will you post pictures, please? Do you have mugs, or something else?

Might help to search for the mark using a more precise description. Technically it isn't a footprint but the sole of a human right foot, there is a difference. It also seems to have initials "O R" near the little toe. Good luck.

That does look like script writing on the sole......doesn't it ??

I have a fox figurine that has this footprint and the lettering is a bit more clear but I still can't read it. Does anyone know anything about this? Fox Figurine 1.jpg Fox Figurine 2.jpg Fox Figurine.jpg

Vronica, After staring at the mark on your piece for a while, are the the first 4 letters in the last line TLAQ? That could be abbreviation for Tlaquepaque, which I can spell, but not pronounce, LOL.

I'm going to have to Google animals of Mexico. That critter looks like some kind of racoon or kitty cat to me, not a fox.

The first line looks like it might be CERAMICA and the second line GOMEZ?

That is amazing detective work. Searching ceramica gomez Tlaquepaque I found this image from a long-vanished ebay listing:

I think Vronica's figurine is supposed to be coati.

I have a horse figurine like this, it's the cutest pudgy little horse! I have been trying to find information about it for a long time but keep coming up empty. Your little fox (or whatever it is) is the only thing I have seen that resembles mine so closely, same color, same big adorable eyes, same lines on the legs, actually it's hand painted in the very same style, only difference being that the horse has a bit more surface area to fill. I would post the pic if only I knew how. I got this piece from a flea market almost 30 yrs ago when I lived in CA. This thread is the ONLY place I have been able to find any info on the human foot mark a cute little figurine in this style. Thank you! Any further info would be very much appreciated! Merry Christmas to you all!

How wonderful to find this thread. I've been searching all over the internet to find information on a pig that I have that has the human footprint mark. A big thanks to everyone here who has contributed to this thread.
