It is pretty standard fare for book and paper conservators, as well as book binders. The same skills and materials you use to replace the covers on a book you can use to make a custom box, including hot stamping the labels.
No makers marks at all on the boxes. Yes, boxes. I found another one!!!! Seriously though......how do I go about working out a possible selling price? I'm almost certain I won't hang onto these little beauties
Not quitting just yet. I took them to a book shop that sells rare books and didn't have much luck there. They said there is not a market for such old books with that type of topic but then offered to buy them for $50 each.
JMHO. I'd put the stress on Kidderminster. most people would probably take it for some sort of cheese.
I've been dealing rare books since 1998. www.addall.com is generally the best book search engine. Here is a search: https://www.addall.com/SuperRare/Us...or=&exDesc=&match=Y&via=used&eachShow=50&pg=2
Thanks @AntiqueBytes. This is a great website for research. I have a couple of boxes of old books and will use this site as a starting point. Thanks again. Tracey
Your family boxes finds never cease to amaze me! So much amazing pieces!!! Perfectly understand you, sniffing the book... I still remember some books smells from my childhood
I find that smell very comforting. It also reminds me if my school days Yes, I am very lucky to have inherited so many intetesting and beautiful things. I am loving researching each item x
You are also lucky your relatives took good care of them. I can't tell you how many times I go to a house call, they have books for sale, but they had stored them in a cardboard box in a damp basement
