Small Nippon Vase - Can Anyone Read Signature?

Hello Everyone! Forgive me if I've posted this before but I couldn't find the thread. My memory is not what it used to me but this may be the first post on this vase. Anyway, it stands about 3 1/2" tall. I searched Gotheborg and I believe I have the mark orientation correct and that the first character represents "house". I didn't make any progress from there. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like you posted it in the spring but didn't get any answer? I can only help find the post & tell you it's a lovely little piece. As for the mark...?

 

Thanks, bronwen. Nice to know I haven't lost it completely yet but don't know why I couldn't find the thread. I am finally getting it listed and was hoping for more information. It has a rim chip and needs all the help it can get.

I searched for posts by you, in this forum, not restricted to titles, using the term 'footed'.

 

Could it be a toothpick holder instead of a vase?

Yes, that's why I'm hoping I can find some way to make it more desirable.

I think it is lovely.

I dont go along with the oft quoted view that damage kills value.

It may reduce value but the advantage of your pot is that it has an uneven rim so the chip doesnt stand out too much.

Thank you, rhiwfield. I actually have had some luck selling lightly damaged pieces. If you don't ask anywhere near full price and are honest about the defects it doesn't seem to deter all buyers. Some, not all, items are just too good to trash. I'm trying to get better at listing any defects in the title or in the condition description section so people who can't tolerate imperfections don't even have to view the item.

I sell a lot of AS IS items in my brick and mortar.
Some people don't care, as the item fits their need, or they can't afford one in perfect condition. There are other people who will not touch a damaged item no matter how hard to find or inexpensive.
When I sold through ebay, I sold a lot of items AS IS and put it in the title. I had many people thank me for my honesty.

I only mentioned the damage, because you hadn't and I wasn't sure you knew it was there.
