When were these portraits written? They sell these portraits for $ 200. Do they represent value?

By the way, in Russia for some Russian portraits of high quality (well, if the painting by the way with the signature of the artist, which at least somewhere in the catalogs listed), give 1-4 thousand dollars.
I myself wondered why people buy this for such money. But still it means demand for this is))
And most likely the name of the artist is also important in this case.
For example, it is in directories with a relatively normal rating)).

But this is without a signature and foreign work.
And the level of painting is mediocre?
Although maybe $ 40 I would have bought)). If, for example, this is the early 19th century)).

It looks like these are prints on paper, and not paintings. Original paintings would be worth a lot more money.

Well, the seller claims that it is written on canvas with oil paints)).

A lot of money, this is how much money?
200 dollars is it cheap? If this is a real painting?

Well, we just have foreign painting, especially without a signature, is valued relatively inexpensively.

And what do you think about such a portrait? You can also buy it within 200 dollars.

If you look closely, and there are dots, then it is a print. I am no expert and others will explain better. But it is possible that pictures like this are prints and someone has added paint to some areas -- like a few thick strokes of black paint to the dress, blue to the cushion ... Perhaps you should look at the lace, eyes, fingers using a magnifying glass. Photos of the back of this picture and a close-up of the face would be useful. This is just my opinion. I am often wrong.

Well, I generally agree. Here you need a close-up photo of painting. Then it becomes clear whether the print is, or something else. Oil painting is difficult to confuse with a seal)). Especially if you look at the picture live.

But on blurry or fuzzy photos you can buy print)). Here it is not quite clear.

But the last paiting seems to be more like painting. As for the first two pictures, it's hard to say anything. There can be a stamp, maybe painting. On these photos is also not entirely clear.

Generally, if they are someone famous painted by a famous painter, they have value. If they are not famous and the painter isn't famous, not so much. I know that's vague, but it also depends on your market. Who are you thinking of selling to? In order to make a profit, you have to be sure that you can find a buyer who will pay double what you paid.

SSlava, I may be way off base, but that last one looks to me as if someone has been studying Carlo Dolci.

Are there no signatures on any of these?

Well, I buy pictures for myself, not for sale))

But still I want to be sure that I can sell at least for the same money that I bought the picture)).

And I do not know whether portraits of unknown people should be hung on a wall in my room for example)).

For me, $ 200 is really expensive. Maybe for $ 40 I would buy, well, or for $ 60-100 (for that kind of money, by the way, I could sell it if my need it)For two hundred dollars is unlikely. The seller is already selling them half year))

I do not know, probably there is no signature. but maybe the seller does not know about the existence of the signature or did not pay attention to the signature.

Well, I think that may be a decent indication that they're simply not worth what he's asking.

Well, if the pictures really cost $ 200, they would have been bought long ago.

And here the price is obviously too high.

    Although I like the pictures))
If this is not a print, then when they could be written))?

By the way, when a long time can not sell any thing, usually the seller can reduce the price. That is, i can bargain.

    Hi,
A framer went out of business near here about three years ago. He had stacks of unframed oil paintings. I bought four very large oval paintings of British subjects for 15 dollars each. I then framed them with slightly battered frames for 25 dollars each. I sold them at a garage sale for 400 dollars each. They were nicely painted only a little brighter than I liked or I would have kept them for myself.
