Help in Identifying a 1989 Parker Duofold pen

Hi all. I have an 'never used' Parker Duofold pen certificated as being made in Newhaven, East Sussex, England, UK.

It is fitted with a Medium 18K 750 Solid Gold two tone Duofold Arrow nib - fully flushed and fitted with its original ink converter, can also be used with Parker ink cartridges. It's still in the original inner velvet-covered Parker Presentation Box, with original Warranty description booklet - both in excellent, unused condition.

When I was presented with it back in 1989, I was led to believe it is a Parker Duofold Centennial fountain pen and as such I sold it on ebayUK as that. However, on receiving it through the post, the buyer thinks it is be a Parker International Fountain pen, and is asking me for a partial refund off what he paid for it.

Does anyone know what the difference is between a Parker Duofold Centennial Fountain pen and a Parker International Fountain pen please? Any information about this would be much appreciated, as I am not a fountain pen expert.

    Many thanks.

Can`t help with the model of pen, but don`t issue a partial refund, ask for it to be returned.
If you email Parker they should be able to tell you the correct details.

    Hi,
I agree with Davey. I stopped partial refunds a long time a go. I had a perfect Marigold flower frog from 1907 and the buyer started screaming about a huge piece of ash on the bottom of the frog. It was the size of lincoln's eye on a penny. He wanted 80 percent off. That was the last straw.

They differ in terms of size and slightly in styling, that much I remember. Specifics, not so much. There are several excellent fountain pen websites which will help you.

I would suggest looking up the website of Mr. Richard Binder. He's a VERY well-respected fountain pen repairman from the 'States, with an encyclopedic website of almost every major brand and model out there.

Just keep in mind that the Parker Duofold has been one of Parker's top-tier pens for nearly 100 years. That being the case, there are LOADS of varieties. Be VERY careful with your research. Antique fountain pens are more my forte.

That marbling reminded me that SOMEWHERE around here I have a Waterman pen from the 80s!

I emailed Parker UK - thanks. Apparently it's the size of the nib that determines which pen it is. They said regarding new Parker Duofold fountain pens the Centennial (with 2.5cm nib and a slightly wider barrel) is about £45 more than the International (with 2cm nib).

From my perspective, they stated: 'Please note however, that since we do not trade with vintage pens, we cannot estimate its current value for you'. So I'll now have to gauge that from the online trading markets.

Thanks for your input all. Hope this has helped others in some small way.
