These very sad earrings are stamped Chapeado which Ive found means gold plated (as most has worn off now!) and are stamped with an arrow with what looks like a K across the shaft.
I know they are worthless as so damaged but I have some questions about them please.
    1)Do the hooks date them?
2)Are they old or mimicking an older style?
3)The glass stones are completely flat on the back and faceted facing forwards- almost look like they are in backwards- when was this popular or is it unusual?
    Thanks for looking :)

That’s really interesting Fridolina. Thanks for the link. I’ll research as to if the rose cut dates the earrings. :)
That link is saying commonly Georgian and Victorian. Are these likely from this era?? They are open back so I thought that made them much later. Aargh, I don’t know enough!!

Gorgeous, K. Chapeado is Portuguese, it means plated, as you said.
The earrings are in a typical Portuguese style. My guess for the period would be ca 1890s.
Open backed rose cut clear glass is seen a lot on 19th century Iberian jewellery. (Luscious emeralds too :hungry:, but that is another story)

    Definitely not Georgian.

IMO they could be late Victorian but more likely early 20th century costume jewellery in earlier style.

Awesome! That’s much earlier than I thought. I nearly didn’t post them as thought they may be 50s but something made me think that there was more to them. Off to Google Iberian jewellery! (wish they were emeralds....)

Very nice timeline. Christie Romero, who is credited as one of the originators of the timeline, was sometimes an appraiser on the U.S. version of Antiques Roadshow. Unfortunately she died in 2009.

There are lots of good resources on that Lang Antiques website. I find it very useful, clear and concise.
